As a payroll software provider, cyber security is something we take seriously. We look after your money and information and we don’t cut corners to risk your online safety.

That’s why we’ve decided to turn February into our very own Payroll Security Month; a month for us to shine a spotlight on the various measures we’ve put in place to keep your Thankyou Payroll account secure – and how you can make the most of them.

Let’s take a look at some two-minute tasks you can take to secure your Thankyou Payroll account today…

1. Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA)

Turning on 2FA ensures your Thankyou Payroll account is protected not just by your password, but also a unique code that’s sent to your email. That way, even if someone gets a hold of your login details, they won’t be able to break through that second layer of protection. It’s like hiring a personal bodyguard for your online information – only it’s free and can be set up in minutes.

In light of Payroll Security Month, we’ll be making 2FA mandatory for all Thankyou Payroll customers at the end of this month (Wednesday 1st March) – so that no one’s security is left to chance.

Get ahead of this change and take two, to turn on 2FA today.

2. Update your password

We recently launched a series of new requirements for all Thankyou Payroll passwords, ensuring they can’t be easily guessed.

We strongly recommend that you update your password according to these requirements in order to prevent unauthorised access. It’s a good idea to do this at least every 6 months to provide the greatest protection.

Tip: using a password vault (like 1Password) can help store passwords securely AND it means you don’t have to remember them!

3. Check your contact details

It’s easy to ‘set then forget’ when it comes to contact details. It’s something that probably doesn’t even cross your mind once you’ve joined us.

However, it’s really important to update your contact details for your Thankyou Payroll account as and when they change. That way, we can act quickly and get in touch with you if there is an issue or suspicious activity on your account.

4. Enable single sign-on

Connecting your Thankyou Payroll account with either your Google, Microsoft or Xero account is a great way to safely authenticate your account access. Plus, it limits the number of passwords you need to remember!

Enable single sign-on (SSO) to simplify your login experience and advance your online security.

Tip: if you use SSO, your account won’t use 2FA.

Relax, knowing your account is secure

Pretty quick and easy, right?

If you’ve made it this far – congratulations! You can relax knowing your private payroll information isn’t going to end up in the wrong hands. We hope you learnt a thing or two about online security along the way too.

Happy Payroll Security Month!
