About Thankyou Payroll

In 2009 founders Hugh Davidson and Kate Stevens-West set out to change the Payroll Industry in Aotearoa. Thankyou Payroll is an organisation, and a payroll system, designed to make a difference. 

Thankyou Payroll is a triple bottom line organisation – we look after people, planet and profit. As a purpose driven enterprise we make decisions every day that consider the social, environmental and business impact.

An important part of the Thankyou Payroll whānau is the Thankyou Charitable Trust (NZ Registered Charity CC50391). In the 2019/20 financial year the Trust distributed $55,400 – to 39 recipients – in New Zealand. This was generously donated by our customers (using our unique payroll giving system) and Thankyou Payroll.

Our Payroll system and software is free for charities so every week we run payroll for thousands of employees at registered New Zealand Charities. Our team also walks the talk spending volunteer days helping community groups.

Climate Positive – Certified by Ekos.

As part of our commitment to the environment we’re certified – by Ekos International – carbon positive (we offset 20% more carbon than we consume). Also, our team is always looking for ways to help restore the planet from responsible transport choices, planting trees and participating in international climate events. Thankyou Payroll is part of the Climate Leaders Coalition and an active member of the Sustainable Business Network.

Thankyou Payroll is registered with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) as a PAYE Intermediary. That means our team has the skills and systems to help you with your tax filing. We work with the IRD to help you spend less time on paperwork and more time on your other important jobs.

You still have to organise your timesheets and pay-runs and deposit the pay, but you can call our customer success team if you need help or have any questions around leave, paying employees, or our payroll system. We recommend you use an accountant or bookkeeper to help you with your business – if you’d like us to introduce you to someone in your area please contact our partners team.

Our Board

Over the last decade we’ve built up a stellar board to support and advise our CEO David Morrison. Our board covers a diverse skill base to help govern Thankyou Payroll as we grow over the next decade and beyond. 

Desiree Williams, our chair, leads a diverse group of people with complementary skills in governance and strategy across multiple industries. The board has experience with both non-profit and traditional companies.

Our Team

Our Customer Success Team works from both Dunedin and Wellington offices. Several of our team members work remotely so that they can balance family life and work life, all while reducing unnecessary commuting. We connect online via slack, zoom, email and the phone.

The design team works closely with the development team, continually improving the Payroll System. Our design and development process has grown over the years, as has the development team. We’re constantly testing new improvements and making the current product even better. 

Wellington is home for the management and marketing team who help our amazing team help businesses pay their people all over New Zealand.
